ChampCar
Budget endurance racing built around value-capped cars. Long races, multi-driver teams, and the most accessible on-ramp to genuine wheel-to-wheel competition. The paddock culture is famously helpful. If your goal is maximum racing hours per dollar, start here.
NASA
A clean progression from HPDE groups through Time Trial into racing, with strong regional presence and a wide class structure. Good if you want a structured ladder and a clear next step at every stage.
SCCA
The oldest and deepest club racing organization in the country. Sprint-race focused, highly competitive classes, and a well-defined licensing school path. Best if wheel-to-wheel sprint racing against a stacked field is the goal.
How we'd choose
Cheapest path to real racing: ChampCar endurance with a team. Most structured learning ladder: NASA. Most competitive sprint racing: SCCA. Plenty of racers do all three.
