Tire Pressure Basics for Track Days
The single cheapest performance and safety adjustment available to you, and most people get it wrong all day.
Hot pressure is what matters
Set cold, measure hot, adjust cold. Tires gain significant pressure with heat, and a tire that's correct in the paddock can be badly over-inflated after three laps.
Reading the tire
Look at where the wear reaches on the shoulder. Rolling over onto the sidewall means you need more pressure or more negative camber. Wear concentrated in the middle means you're over-inflated.
Make one change at a time
Change one variable per session and write it down. Setup work without notes is just guessing with extra steps.
